The Laycock School Choir is now in its second year and has been very popular.
The choir is open to children in Key Stage 2, from years 4-6. We meet every Friday lunchtime.
As well as singing a wide range of songs, we also learn breathing and singing techniques, ways to improve our posture, memory and tone our muscles.
Singing is a great form of expression; it helps to boost confidence, provides a sense of belonging, is a great social activity, lifts moods, promotes positive well- being and is a lot of fun!
This academic year, we have taken part in three local community events; we sang carols and Christmas songs at Tesco, sang at Highbury and Islington Station and took part in a community Christmas Concert that was held at a local secondary School.
In February, the choir joined thousands of other primary school children to take part in the Young Voices Concert held at 02 Arena in London. It was a fantastic event and greatly enjoyed by both the choir members and their families. (Thank you to The Friends of Laycock, who kindly donated money towards the purchase of Young Voices t- shirts)
We have already registered to take part in the Young Voices Concert next year and look forward to taking part in other future events and performances.
