We, at Laycock, pride ourselves at being inclusive and acknowledge and appreciate equality.
We have chosen to use the Equality Act to enhance our curriculum and make sure that our children leave our school knowing what equality means, educated about all types of life choices and – most importantly- rights as a child, adult and human being. We challenege stereotypes, break barriers and welcome all suggestions, opinions and ways of life.
You can read our behavior policy that compliments, supports and acknowledges the Equality Act. See also our Inclusion pages on the website.
Here are some highlights of the Equality Act:
It provides a single, consolidated source of discrimination law, covering all the types of discrimination that are unlawful, such as: race, ability, gender, age, religion, sexual orientation, gender reassignment, etc;
It is unlawful to discriminate;
Democracy and ability to vote;
Te right to be safe, looked after and privacy;
And much more!
We teach these in a child-friendly manner:
How and what do we teach?
Here are some of the resources we use with our classes to teach them the Equality Act and importance of Human Rights.
